Judith Pacquier

The simple fact of being born in Saintes in 1975, the Year of Italian Music, at once placed Judith Pacquier at the very heart of the early music movement. However, it was in Lorraine that she later received the most significant part of her musical training, before continuing her studies on the cornett with Jean-Pierre Canihac in the early music department of the CNSM in Lyon.

She now pursues a career as an instrumentalist with many ensembles in concert and on record, among them Ensemble Elyma (Gabriel Garrido), Doulce Mémoire (Denis Raisin Dadre), Le Poème Harmonique (Vincent Dumestre), La Chapelle Rhénane (Benoît Haller), Accentus (Laurence Equilbey), the Marini Consort (Innsbruck), and Ars Longa of Havana (Teresa Paz).

Her multiple activities as a concert artist do not prevent her from showing total commitment to organising beginners’ and advanced programmes in the practice of her instrument of choice. A holder of the Diplôme d’État in Early Music, Judith Pacquier operates in many Latin American countries, notably Colombia, Chile, Peru and Ecuador, which she visits regularly in her role of the coordinator of the ‘Travelling Conservatory’ set up by the Centre International des Chemins du Baroque.

She is also the co-leader, with Etienne Meyer, of the young ensemble "les Traversées Baroques", specialized in the re-discovery of musical inheritance of Italy and the Central Europe, presenting concerts of a variable geometry as well as numerous early music workshops in France, Poland or the Czech Republic. Their first disc ,"Virgo Prudentissima", with the French label K617, was rewarded 5 diapasons and received numerous eulogistic critiques.

Franck Poitrineau

After studying in the French Conservatoire of Le Mans, and then at the prestigious CNSMD in Paris, and after an extensive collaboration with such orchestras as Paris Opera, Lyon’s Opera or Radio France Opera, he decided to take up historical instruments and studied sackbut at the Royal Conservatory in Anterpen.

He is a regular member of such ensembles as La Fenice, Doulce Mémoire, L’arpeggiata, Hespérion XC (Jordi Savall), Les Arts Florissants (William Christie), Concerto Vocale (René Jacobs), Amterdam Baroque Orchestra (Ton Koopman), Europa Galante (Fabio Biondi), le Poème Harmonique (Vincent Dumestre) etc... ensembles with whom he has recorded over a hundred discs.

As a professor, he teaches modern trombone in the Conservatory of 7th in Paris, and teaches sackbut in the regional conservatory of Tours. He also takes part in the large developing project in Latin America with Les Chemins du Baroque, giving lessons in countries as far as Colombia, Paraguay, Peru or Argentina.
